Actions and Results
- Provide mentorship to the team of UX designers and web site production professionals
- Partner with team members to create deliverables that clearly and persuasively communicate the UX and design strategies and the reasoning behind them.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to help meet their business goals for the web properties; find the right balance of addressing technological needs while meeting stated business objectives
- Work with team and key delivery agents to understand and refine/implement processes and work flows to ensure continuous, efficient delivery of high impact websites
- Work with team members and engineering to understand and introduce new techniques and technologies needed to deliver impactful designs and user interactions that meet the changing needs of the business and meet the key business objectives of the various web properties
- Manage, hire and develop staff, ensuring an understanding of individual and department goals and responsibilities; communicate responsibilities; provide regular feedback on performance; and identify skill-sets necessary to support a rapidly growing business
- Create a collaborative environment, serving as a mentor, stimulating team members to generate creative ideas and guiding their work and progress
- Coordinate efforts to drive direct response designs from conceptualization through to implementation
- Communicate clearly, and often. Ensure that stakeholders never wonder what progress is being made; that people feel included in the process, and informed every step of the way.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Bachelors degree or equivalent
- Experience in a product management or an equivalent role in understanding and capturing customer needs/requirements
- Proven track record leading successful web development/production teams
- A minimum of 10 years web site/high tech experience
- Deep knowledge of user interface design principles as it relates to web applications, ecommerce and/or direct response
- 5 - 7 years in a managerial role related to websites
- Experience with specific website requirements including SEO, multi-variant testing, portals, ad-serving, web analytics and content management; experience with consumer-facing, high tx volume e-commerce sites a plus
- Experience with web-based applications, the ASP delivery model and familiarity with the design and implementation for scaling high volume systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self directed and self motivated; ability to operate effectively in a very dynamic role
- Detail and deadline oriented along with a willingness to meet the needs of a 24/7 environment
