SBA AND CONSTANT CONTACT INTRODUCE ONLINE RESOURCE FOR SMALL BUSINESS EMAIL MARKETING

Resource site includes email fundamentals for enhancing customer relationships and expanding business opportunities

Washington DC. and Waltham, MA. - March 15, 2005

he U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and Constant Contact, a Do-It-Yourself Email Marketing® service for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and associations today launched a new email marketing resource available through the SBA's Online Small Business Training Network. This online resource is made possible as part of a cosponsorship between the SBA and Constant Contact.

Designed specifically for small business owners and entrepreneurs, this new email marketing resource is now available at http://sba.email-marketing-101.com/. The cosponsored section on the SBA's Web site includes "Email Marketing 101®," a free on-demand web seminar series that provides email marketing education, easy-to-follow instructions and advice.

The web seminar series features:

  • Benefits of email marketing for building customer relationships and growing business
  • Fundamentals for building and managing email lists using proven best practices
  • Tools and resources for helping small businesses create and launch effective email campaigns, measure results and troubleshoot for improvement over time
  • Real examples of how other small businesses have effectively put email marketing to work for their organizations
  • Up-to-the minute archive of Constant Contact's popular Email Marketing Hints & Tips® newsletter, a "how-to" resource on creating, implementing, and managing effective email marketing campaigns

"We're pleased to cosponsor this online resource with Constant Contact as we seek to better inform entrepreneurs about how to successfully and cost-effectively use email marketing," said SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto. "We get a lot of questions from small business owners and entrepreneurs about email marketing and this training tool will help to improve our already robust customer tutorial services."

"We're constantly looking for new ways to get the word out to independent entrepreneurs and small businesses that email marketing is one of the most effective and affordable tools for building customer loyalty and expanding business opportunities," said Gail Goodman, chief executive officer for Constant Contact. "The SBA is one of the most widely known and trusted resources for entrepreneurs seeking to start and grow a business, so we're excited about the work we've done together to launch this new seminar series."

With a portfolio of direct and guaranteed business loans and disaster loans worth more than $45 billion, SBA is the nation's largest single financial backer of small businesses. Last year, SBA offered management and technical assistance to more than 1.5 million small business owners. SBA also plays a major role in the government's disaster relief efforts by making low-interest recovery loans to both homeowners and businesses. America's 25 million small businesses employ more than 50 percent of the private workforce, generate more than half the nation's gross domestic product, and are the principal source of new jobs in the U.S. economy.
