68 PERCENT OF CALIFORNIA SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT 2007 HOLIDAY SEASON, ACCORDING TO CONSTANT CONTACT SURVEY

Stu Carty, San Francisco Bay Area regional development director, helps California small businesses learn how to market for a strong holiday season

San Francisco, CA. - November 15, 2007

California small businesses are more optimistic than the national average for the 2007 holiday season, but are showing some concerns, according to Constant Contact's 3rd Annual 2007 Small Business Holiday Outlook*. The survey showed that 71 percent of California-based small business owners have some concerns about sales during the holiday season, in part due to competition from large retailers (36 percent); yet 68 percent of them (five percentage points higher than the national average) are anticipating strong holiday sales. Constant Contact®, Inc. (NasdaqGM: CTCT), is a leading provider of email marketing and online surveys for small organizations.

California-based small business owners' confidence in this year's upcoming holiday sales season is supported by their planned use of email marketing. According to the survey, 46 percent will use email marketing to promote their holiday season offerings, in comparison to 22 percent who will turn to direct mail and 22 percent that will use advertising. Surveyed businesses noted that email marketing has the greatest impact on driving holiday sales (38 percent).

Eighty-five percent of California small businesses indicated that the December holiday activity is important to their yearly earnings and Stu Carty, a veteran marketing specialist, is committed to making them successful during this important time of year. Carty offers year-round email marketing seminars that provide all types of small business owners and organizations with practical tips and advice to grow their businesses and organizations, not only during the busy holiday season, but throughout the year.

"Small businesses play a critical role in growing the economy in California and their optimism for the holidays bodes well for the state overall," said Stu Carty, San Francisco regional development director, Constant Contact. "Small businesses are in-tune with their customers and understand the importance of marketing to their current customers during the high season for many businesses. Email marketing is a fast and affordable way for them to provide useful information, drive sales, and build strong customer relationships."

Fleet Feet Sports in San Anselmo can attest to the effectiveness of using Constant especially around the holiday season. "Last year, we used Constant Contact to provide our customers with suggested gifts by price and category," said Alaina Yoakum, co-owner of Fleet Feet Sports. "We then supplemented this promotion with flyers, which we displayed and inserted in every shopping bag. The combined marketing effort definitely worked!"

Carty is hosting several upcoming seminars, offering small businesses practical and affordable techniques to help them drive sales and deliver business results, around the holiday season and beyond. These seminars include:
