A favorite example of clever, compelling newsletter content

Around here, e-newsletter expert (and Constant Contact customer) Michael Katz is somewhat of a legend. I may be overstating it a bit, but it’s true that several of our senior executives, including our CEO, mention Michael’s newsletter often as an excellent example of compelling content. Just this week Michael’s name came up in conversation, and today I received his email newsletter. So it seems the universe wants me to write a blog entry about Michael.
Michael sends his newsletter twice a month. He defines it as “an email newsletter about email newsletters,” although he does venture outside of the newsletter world on occasion, as seen in his current issue. Michael includes one article in which he sprinkles some humor (he’s good at that), reflective wisdom, and practical advice; a blend that makes his newsletter useful and fun to read. And, for those who don’t have time to read, Michael offers a podcast on his selected topic.
Michael also promotes his blog and invites people to contact him if they are interested in his services, but most of his newsletter’s real estate is taken up by the article. In this case, a little bit of promotion goes a long way. Just ask Michael.
