Thanks for Sharing
Hi Eric,

Thanks for sharing your experience with surveys and congrats on getting a great response rate.

Your helpful advice of sending reminder emails to non-respondents that are loyal to your business is key to generating an excellent response rate. A note of caution however for those of you newer to surveys: ensure that you issue reminders only to those that you believe are interested in participating in the survey.  Otherwise, you run the risk of damaging your relationship.  If the survey was of no interest to them the first time, they will forgive you once, perhaps twice.  But beyond that you could lose them for good and become a spammer in their mind. So if you’re not sure who to send your surveys to, take a look at part two of this post.

One of the biggest reasons the overall response rate to surveys is around 10% is because organizations do not target their surveys to only the people that will be interested.  So 10% isn’t bad if you’re sending to a larger list of people.  If this is the case, the results will equate to only a snapshot of what the audience may be thinking.  Thereafter with each data gathering, you may discover more insights and can begin to spot trends.  Check out the second part of our series to learn more.

Thanks again for your comments, and keep them coming!
