A Golf Course Management App ... Finally
As we were planning and developing Constant Contact AppConnect, one of the “real world” case studies we routinely circulated around the office was the Golf Course Management Application. We talked about the difficulties that a user (a golf course manager, for example) of such an application has when trying to manage contacts and members in the software and then communicate with them using Constant Contact.
Two applications, both in need of the same set of data.
We discussed that there were “pain points” that led to frustration for the users as well, and how our APIs would help to alleviate these pain points. We verbalized the golf course management app because it was, in our minds, an easy story to tell. Most people understand the business problem, and many also have personal experiences with golf courses (not all are worth bragging about, however -- especially mine).
So, as the AppConnect project moved along at Constant Contact, this “real world” application became our Poster App to easily envision the outcome of the effort. What we didn’t know at the time was how right we were. As the new integrations began to roll along after launch, we were thrilled that Tee-On Golf (www.tee-on.com) actually became one of the first applications to integrate their app with Constant Contact.
Via Tee-On Golf’s application, contact data is integrated with Constant Contact via AppConnect. The integration enables courses to build up their customer database and sort golfer data for targeted mailings in Tee-On, then communicate with the golfers using Constant Contact’s email marketing service.
Golf course employees can add members to any number of email lists with a single click from within Tee-On. Additionally, golfers can instantly add themselves to any lists of interest directly from Tee-On’s booking confirmation screen. For example, they can choose to join a newsletter list, be notified of any ‘specials’ or they can get more information about leagues. This service also allows visitors on a course’s website to add themselves to any of the available email lists.
So there it is. A real world solution to a real world problem using the Constant Contact AppConnect APIs. We look forward to seeing what you can build as well.
