The question every business should be asking
Posted on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 15:17 by Caroline Shahar
Ever wonder what’s on your customers’ minds? I’m sure you do – they’re your bread and butter. But for some reason, you don’t ask them. Well, thanks to a recent survey we conducted here at Constant Contact, I now get why.
Can you guess the number one challenge that’s stopping the majority of small businesses from getting feedback from their customers (besides time of course!)? They don’t know what to ask.
I hear this loud and clear. That’s why many of my upcoming posts will give you great questions to ask your audience. The results you get back will be the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow – knowing what your customers are thinking.
Let’s start off with the number one question every business should be asking. It can’t get easier than this for you or your customers. Are you ready? Ask your audience, "How satisfied are you with us?" And in addition to giving them some set answers to choose from, definitely include a place for comments. It would look like this: Click here to see the sample survey.
That one question is going to give you:
• A temperature check on how you’re doing
• Insight on what needs improvement
• New ideas to grow your business
• Direction for where you should focus your resources
• And, above all, stronger relationships with your customers by giving them a voice and letting them know you care.
And did I mention it’s great because it’s only one question? It will be very easy for your audience to fill out, which should give you a lot of feedback. Just make sure you highlight how little time it will take them when you invite them to participate. Include something like this:
This survey will take only 1 minute to complete. With that one minute you will help us improve the products/services we provide and help meet your needs.
The feedback you will get from this one question will have you wishing you started using online surveys sooner. Get that survey out the door and then come back for a visit. Comment here or email me at cshahar@constantcontact.com. Let me know how the survey went, what worked, what didn’t work, and what you want some guidance with. Until next time, happy growing!
