For the past 33 years, Women Employed has been the leading national advocate for women's economic advancement, making life better for working women. Much of their efforts focus on analyzing work place issues, educating policy makers, and building support to improve opportunities and incomes.
In 2000, Women Employed began a nationwide online action network for individuals who are passionate about women's employment issues. Nicole Sauler, Policy Associate, realized that she needed to find a quick and effective tool to communicate with members of the network.
"I began by sending email alerts through Microsoft® Outlook®, 20 emails at a time to 100 members. As my list grew, I knew I needed to find a better tool. Today, Women Employed uses Constant Contact to communicate with its 2,000 members. They send out a variety of e-communications targeted toward different groups within their organization, including board members, fundraising committees, and members of their mentoring program.
"We use Constant Contact for everything except solicitations and we are moving towards email-based communications for that as well."
Being an advocacy organization, it's important to Women Employed that they grow their list. "We grow our list through our website - we purposely make it prominent. We are always recruiting. Our staff knows how to talk about it and get people excited about receiving the alerts."
