Connecting Dots Around the World: How Jennifer Britton Makes Every Connection Count

When Jennifer Britton left a 15-year career working with international teams and governments, including a leadership role with the United Nations, she knew her next chapter needed to centre on one thing: connection. That vision became the heart of Potentials Realized, a performance improvement company she founded on April Fool’s Day, 2004 — no joke! Her goal was simple but ambitious: help people and organizations unlock their potential while staying true to her values of collaboration, learning, and community. 

“Twenty-one years ago, when I was just starting this business, it was like, ‘How do I keep in touch with people?’” Jennifer recalls. “My initial list when I opened the doors to Potentials Realized — which really has the mandate of sparking conversations to help people realize their potential — was made up of people I’d worked with around the world.”

A Canadian business with global reach

Based in Ontario, Jennifer has built a company that operates far beyond Canadian borders. From coaching entrepreneurs to facilitating leadership programs and publishing books, Potentials Realized serves clients across industries and continents. 

“Each book has become a different product line,” she explains. “We do coaching, team development — which we’re really well known for — and then this other piece: supporting the future of work. In 2017, that was effective virtual conversations. Today it’s something completely different. It’s a pretty fun adventure.”

Being female-led has always been a point of pride. Jennifer views her work as part of a larger movement to amplify women’s voices in business, while also demonstrating to other entrepreneurs what is possible when vision is combined with consistency.

Connection: the core of every program

For Jennifer, connection is more than communication — it’s community. Each new initiative is more than just a program or product. It’s a chance to spark meaningful conversations that empower people to grow professionally and personally.

“What’s kept me in business for more than 20 years is focusing on people first,” she says. “For me, it’s never just about programs or products, it’s about the conversations and the communities they create.”

Even with thousands of alumni across multiple programs, Jennifer has built a system to keep everyone engaged. 

“Over 21 years of training coaches, they take their work out into the world,” she says. “My business logo is the ripple effect — that’s why I call this business Potentials Realized. Part of my work is keeping people connected.”

“I still have subscribers who downloaded white papers in 2020,” she says. “It speaks back to consistency. When you give value and keep the conversation going, people stay connected.”

She’s embraced AI and other tools with intention, using them to streamline launches, support consistent communication, and extend her impact, while keeping relationships and trust front and centre. 

“Even with all the social media noise, what works for one business doesn’t work for all. Track metrics, follow your heart, and stay connected. Have a plan and execute. And try to have fun.”

Looking ahead

Two decades on, Potentials Realized continues to grow globally while remaining deeply rooted in Canada. Jennifer is increasingly focused on licensing and training the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Jennifer says that what energizes her most these days is helping solopreneurs adapt with agility, find their rhythm, and grow sustainably amid constant change. 

“The world changes quickly, but if you keep your community connected, you can thrive. Constant Contact has been the platform that lets me do that consistently.”

Even as her business continues to evolve with new books, digital products, and experiential programs, Jennifer’s goal is steadfast: to maintain a strong, ongoing connection with her audience.
