Where people want to spend their money has completely shifted over the last few years. Consumers are actively turning away from giant retailers to spend money at smaller independent brands.

• In the U.S., consumer preference for shopping primarily at small businesses has nearly tripled over the last five years, jumping from 10% in 2021 to 27% in 2026.
