Fitness with Purpose: How Theresa ZoomFit Builds Strength and Community

When the pandemic hit, Theresa Holdsworth saw an opportunity. As a seasoned fitness professional with 35 years of experience, she knew many older adults struggled to stay active when in-person classes weren’t an option. Determined to keep her community moving, Theresa pivoted her business, Theresa ZoomFit, to online classes. Today, she offers both live sessions and a library of over 400 recorded workouts, designed to help participants maintain independence, strength, and overall wellness.

Theresa’s motivation comes from a deeply personal place. “I teach my parents, who are in their 80s, and my mother-in-law,” she shares. “I want to help them, and everyone I work with, live the most functional, independent life possible.”

More than workouts: building confidence and connection

Her classes aren’t just about exercise; they’re about building confidence, preventing injuries, and giving people the tools to enjoy life fully as they age.

With a focus on adults 50 and older, Theresa’s workouts are research-based, covering strength, mobility, bone health, and cardio. She customizes exercises to meet individual needs, including modifications for those with hip replacements, arthritis, or physiotherapy programs. Her interactive teaching style makes recorded classes feel just like the live experience, keeping participants engaged and motivated.

Keeping her community engaged

Marketing her program has been a balancing act, but Theresa knows client testimonials are her most powerful growth tool.

“My clients are my best advocates,” she says. “When they move well and feel better, people notice. That’s how my community grows.”

To nurture that engagement, Theresa keeps her clients informed, motivated, and supported through email. By providing clear instructions, class schedules, and helpful resources, she fosters a sense of community and accountability. Engaged clients see the benefits of her classes, share their experiences, and encourage friends and family to join; turning participants into advocates.

Constant Contact is an essential part of Theresa’s toolkit. She uses it to create professional, easy-to-navigate emails with buttons linking to class schedules, surveys, and landing pages. The platform makes it easy to organize content, track opens and clicks, and ensure her participants can easily access what they need.

“I love that I can create emails that my older adults can navigate easily, without overwhelming them,” she says.

The results speak for themselves. Her emails see an 84% open rate, more than 50% higher than the industry average. Even more impressive, her click-through rate has climbed to 35% — a 32% lift over industry benchmarks, and 4% higher than her own results from the previous year.

“I know my clients are busy, so it’s really motivating to see they’re not only opening my emails but also engaging with the content,” Theresa says.

Landing pages that drive results

Her landing pages perform just as strongly. In September 2025, her ZoomFit Links page had an 89% engagement rate, while in August it reached 94%. These numbers confirm her community isn’t just passively subscribed. They’re actively interacting with her resources, schedules, and recordings.

That engagement translates into growth. In just nine months, Theresa’s subscriber list has expanded by 20.75%. For a small, highly targeted business like hers, every new subscriber represents not just a number, but a person she can guide toward better health.

“It feels like word of mouth, but online,” she explains. “When people feel stronger and more independent, they tell their friends. And then I get to welcome them into our community.”

Growing her impact, one email at a time

Looking ahead, Theresa hopes to grow her program and expand her email list, bringing her life-changing classes to more adults who want to take charge of their health. She relies on Constant Contact to make her emails professional, easy to navigate, and engaging for her audience, helping her reach more people and keep them connected to her programs and signsups as frictionless as possible.

Her advice to other business owners looking to grow their reach and connect with their audience?

“Be genuine. Be transparent. Value your clients. If you do that, people will trust you and stick with you for the long term.”

Theresa’s story is a reminder that behind every successful small business is a clear why — a personal mission that drives every decision and fuels meaningful connections with customers. For her, it’s not just about fitness, it’s about helping people thrive at every stage of life.
