Almost Three-Quarters Of New UK SMEs Plan To Use AI In 2025, According to New Constant Contact Data

  • New research from Constant Contact shows that the adoption of AI is quickly becoming a defining factor for SME success in the UK
  • The company’s Small Business Now report has revealed that 72% of new UK SMEs plan to use AI in 2025 to support their marketing efforts
  • Nearly all (92%) of new UK SMEs agree that technology has been essential to their growth so far

LONDON, UK, 11 March 2025 – New research has found that new SMEs are fully embracing technology, with almost three-quarters of early-stage UK SMEs planning to use AI, to support their growth in 2025.

The Small Business Now report from marketing platform Constant Contact, which surveyed over 1,600 new small business owners in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, shows that British small businesses are embracing machine learning and artificial intelligence to streamline and expand their operations.

According to the research, the vast majority of early-stage UK SMEs (trading for five years or less) are already embracing technology, and 92 per cent agree that technology has been essential to their growth so far.

The emergence and prevalence of AI has also driven much of this growth and is set to continue to do so. 72 per cent of new UK SMEs plan to use AI for marketing in 2025.

Over a third of the businesses surveyed plan to use AI for content creation and brainstorming (37 per cent), while 32 per cent intend to use AI for customer data analysis. Another 31 per cent will use AI for personalisation, targeting, and segmentation to improve the customer experience.

Erika Robinson, UK General Manager of Constant Contact, explained: “With AI creating transformational change across many industries, it makes sense that small businesses are largely embracing the technology.

“SMEs represent over 99 per cent of the business population in the UK, so their ability to harness AI is not only beneficial to themselves individually but incredibly important in terms of boosting the British economy.

“Most SMEs have less than one hour per day to spend on marketing, and when they can find the time, it’s often too complex for them to manage.

“AI technology, such as the AI-powered functionality that Constant Contact provides for email marketing, social media scheduling, and content marketing, removes the complexity from digital marketing so businesses can work more efficiently, reach their customers in the right places, and make a bigger impact on their goals.”
